Hello darlings!
Blogging consistently remains one of my biggest challenges, but I’m hoping before the end of the month to bring you some content worth waiting for! Today, I talking about my September color crush and five looks to re-create this fall.
This year, it seems as if autumn has come to New England so much faster than it has in past years. Fall is by far my favorite season to dress for, but every year I jump the gun and am forced to sweat it out while I pretended I still felt cute. This year, however, I have checked the monthly forecast almost daily for about two weeks, and I can barely contain my excitement at the ever-cooling temperatures heading our way!
September Color Crush
In an effort to do a better job of reflecting this gradual transition – both in color and construct – I’m mixing & matching some of my favorite late summer pieces with breathable early fall pieces in moody hues. This means off the shoulder tops with distressed denim, chunky sweaters with skirts and shorts, & of course a never ending parade of dresses all in a medley of dark orange, pumpkin, burgundy, chambray & navy. I’m sharing some of my favorite repeat offenders below.
Fall Outfits to Recreate
I have been going through old pictures on my phone lately (a little Siri told me my storage was almost full), and thought it might be fun to re-share some of my favorite looks from last year. I rounded up five of the easiest to re-create, so here’s to hoping these provide you some additional pre-fall inspiration.
1. :: Faux Suede Skirt//Faux Suede Moto Jacket//OTK Boots ::
I love myself a good suede mini. I believe every girl should have one for fall, and I love the versatility of a neutral: nude, camel, olive, black. My tip is to opt for a skirt with a little extra detail; a front zipper or a little crisscross action are my personal faves. Style with a long sleeve top, OTK boots, & a moto jacket in a great fall color for an easy look for a day (or night) out with your gal pals.
2. :: Lace-Up Sweater//Plaid Scarf ::
Chunky sweaters and colorful plaid blanket scarves are autumn must-haves. Pair with denim and booties, or dress your look up with a pair of pumps and a matching handbag.
3. :: Chambray Top//Fringe Ankle Boots ::
If you’re like me, you have a soft spot for monochromatic looks, but often aren’t brave enough to sport them. A Canadian tuxedo is about the safest way to pull off one-color, especially in the fall when moody Monday blues are embraced. These fringe suede booties look great with skinny jeans and are among the first pairs of shoes I pull out when the temperatures drop. Add some color via your accessories, and grab a chai tea latte while you’re at it.
4. :: Pleated Midi Skirt//Felt Hat::
When I saw this pleated midi skirt last year, I didn’t think twice about purchasing it. The dreamy length, flattering silhouette, and ease of pairing makes this skirt a great addition to your closet for both work and play. Upgrade your look with a great texture like faux leather or velvet, which is back with a vengeance this season. A great hat is a perfect way to top of your look. I wore this black felt hat at least three times a week last year. Plus it’s a convenient way to hide messy hair.
5. :: Black Floral Dress ::
It took me a while to jump on the botanical train, but once I did, there was no turning back. Florals can be worn all year round on a variety of season appropriate pieces, making them an incredibly versatile print. For fall I opt for floral dresses with a dark background, like black or navy, and a pop color. In the early part of the season I accessorize with mules & pumps that match the foreground and when the whether cools I switch them out for OTK boots for a more practical, but just as chic, look.
I myself cannot wait to put a new spin on each of these looks, but which look is your favorite?
My goodness girl! All of your looks are so super cute! I wish it was cooler here in Florida! Thanks for joining the link up, and check back next Friday for a new one. Happy weekend!
