Summer Loving: Off the Shoulder Ruffle Top & Gingham Skirt

Hey all,

Over the past few years, my love for Macy’s has waned. Lately, however, we’ve had a fantastic relationship and I love that they cater to a range of styles and sizes. There have been a number of great sales this season, and I have an additional 20% or 25% off coupon. There’s generally only free shipping for orders over $99, but I seemingly always have more than enough to qualify. Free return shipping doesn’t offer much of a deterrent and I love that I can try things out without the concern of unnecessary return fees. Although, it’s not as great of a policy as Nordstrom (which every fashion blogger swears by), I prefer a greater selection of more affordable pieces and more frequent sales.

I purchased both my blouse and gingham skirt from Macy’s and if you follow me on social media, you’ll recognize the skirt from a number of previous posts. Gingham is by far one of my favorite summer prints. It adds instant character to any look and there are a never ending number of blue and red options, which are perfect for the upcoming holiday. I wore these Ann Taylor sandals I purchased last summer (current version here) but if you pair this skirt with red heels and a red bag and you’ve got yourself the perfect holiday number.

No doubt you’ve seen the countless pictures of the Chloe ‘Drew’ Crossbody. If you’re like me, you have no plans on stomaching the $1,850 price tag. Fortunately, it’s become trendy to score designer dopplegangers for less, and I snagged one from Jessica Buurman that included the chain and convertible strap for $100. As expected, Shein has about two or three different versions (there’s even a laser cut design) available in multiple colors for under $26! (Disclaimer: These only come with the chain and if you’re like me you’ll notice that the sides poke out, whereas the the original and more expensive look-alikes invert in.) I also like this listing on Amazon as it offers two sizes for each of three colors.

The off-the-shoulder trend became wildly popular this past spring, and has continued going strong. As I have FOMO (fear of missing out) I couldn’t officially start my summer vacation without purchasing an adorable ots top of my own. This Rachel Roy (and yes, I know she’s on the beyhive’s list) ruffle blouse could not have been a better buy. The fabric is lightweight but durable, and not only do the ruffles add an extra layer of femininity but they are extremely flattering for large busted girls such as myself. This top comes highly recommended!
