This weekend edit is all about my reviews from a “quick” try-on session at one of my favorite retailers!
Hey cuties,
I realized recently that I often work hard on curating content for social media, instead of investing that effort into the blog. For example, I usually share snaps of my fitting room diaries on my Instagram stories. This means those of you who don’t have Instagram or the the time to go through stories are missing out! I thought the Weekend Edit would be a great opportunity to change it up. Today, I’m sharing a few reviews of my June color crush capsule picks from one of my favorite retailers, LOFT. Currently everything is 40% off with code NEW NOW.
Tie Waist Chambray Utility Shorts &  Striped Slouchy Sweater
What can I say about this striped slouchy sweater, other than that I’m obsessed! (I have on a M for reference.) I love the thickness & spacing of the stripes, and the dark orange color that I’m loving the most this month. (It also comes in black.) The material is hard to describe; it’s lightweight with a slightly rough texture. However, it doesn’t itch or irritate my skin. I want to note that this sweater is slightly sheer. I’m wearing a white bra, but I recommend this nude one.
As you know, I’m also crushing on chambray. It’s a great breathable fabric for spring & summer, & can be worn with virtually any other color. As soon as I spotted these shorts, I knew I was taking them home. When I wear shorts, I generally have a problem with gaping (as you’ll see later), and I didn’t with these. I love the tie waist and mid-thigh length. On the left, I’m wearing a size 6 and on the right, I’m wearing an 8. I opted for the 8 because they were not as tight on my upper thighs & bottom.
Verdict: Purchased & Highly Recommend ♥
Chambray Tie Waist Joggers
I’ve been in the market for a pair of joggers for some time now. This chambray pair gives the look of denim, while being a great alternative to jeans during the hot summer months. Similar to the shorts, there was little gaping on my backside, but the size 6 was snug on my upper thighs. Even though I like them a lot, I prefer a more tapered leg. I knew that if I sized up to the 8, the ankle width would also increase.
Verdict: Did Not Purchase, But Recommend
Striped Ruffle Shorts
These striped shorts are super cute & super flattering. The ruffle front details is to die for, and makes for such an adorable & appropriate option for wearing to work when the temperatures rise. Even though I loved them, I felt the color combo was perfect for this month’s capsule but not versatile enough to justify adding to my already large wardrobe. Secondly, there was gaping on my backside and sadly couldn’t be fixed by a belt because there were no loops.
Verdict: Not Purchased, But Recommend
Summer On My Mind Tank
This embroidered top is too cute! It has a racer-back, is lightweight, and is, of course, striped! I actually like everything about it except the gap near my underarm. This generally happens because my chest is disproportionately larger than the rest of my back & torso. I tried on a M, and though a L wouldn’t have this issue, I preferred the fit of the former.
Verdict: Did Not Purchase, But Recommend
Striped Eyelet Shift Dress
I love a good shift dress, and the details on this one are really quite cute. I tried on an 8. The color didn’t do much for me though, and the fit was tight on my bottom half with a lot of extra material around my lower back.
Verdict: Did Not Purchase & Recommend A Try-On In-Store

Thoughts on Current Events
I do want to take a moment to say Happy Father’s Day to my own adorable dad, and to all the dads out their – present, future, and past. Given the recent coverage of the Trump administration’s family-separation policy, however, it’s hard to spend my day celebrating without acknowledging the number of children for whom these last weeks, today, and tomorrows are nothing short of a nightmare. Fortunately, some incredibly thoughtful & empathetic folks have not only shed light on their plight, but mobilized to action. If today, you’re wondering what you can do to help, this article is a great resource. Please consider donating to the organizations listed who are doing the difficult work that some of us cannot.
