On Monday night, I had a slumber party with my goddaughter and her mom. We work together, but in our shared time students looking for a safe space and listening ears surround us. Though our houses aren’t too far apart, meeting up outside of school is also difficult. We are both graduate students – my friend is pursuing a PhD – and overlapping free time is hard to find.
Regardless, quality time together always highlights the importance of prioritizing our friendship. This much needed February vacation provided the time and a slumber party was exactly what the doctor ordered. Although we stayed up far past our bedtime, our time together was an absolute treat! We even had time to plan next month’s get together and to start discussing a vacation together. After they left, my heart was so full.

I have wanted to purchase a light box for over a year, and the sleepover was a perfect excuse to add one to my bar cart. I found the heart garland at Target and loved the colors and textures. I am always in awe of the sweetness that is the first years of childhood. When I think of the privilege that is sharing in my goddaughter’s first memories and experiences, I feel more blessed than I can express.
