Chimney sweep, but make it fashion.

Hello!

Ana and I shot some looks in early January, and a few others on this day in February, but this newsboy chic ensemble was one of my surprise favorites. As such, I have a laundry list of looks in the draft queue, but I decided to share the details about this one first, because I loved how it came together & how the pics turned out!

Outfit Details

I’ve been print crushing on plaid since it returned to the style scene this fall, and this look was no exception. I also loved how budget-friendly all my pieces were; if you can believe it, from top to bottom, the whole outfit was under $50!

Every piece in this look was a steal.

As y’all already know, I’m generally a chunky heel, ankle boot kind of gal. But I’ve wanted a pair of sock boots for a couple of years, but could never justify a full price purchase because I was unconvinced of their versatility, especially given the colors I liked.

Enter these boots. I’m head over heels, but still, I pump the breaks. One day, after a couple of months, I’m walking through the shoe section, and I see these again. This time there’s only one pair in my size, with a clearance price of $11.32. Best believe, I left with them that day.

Why it took me so long to buy a baker boy hat, the world may never know. I am not sad, however, that my first was also a clearance score of six dollars and eighty-nine cents.

It took me another month to design a look around these purchases – even my sister wore the boots before I did – but I finally settled on rocking them with this cute turtleneck sweater dress. Now, all I needed was a blazer.

Would you believe I snagged this blazer from Goodwill for $8 only minutes before our shoot? I’m not lying! The Goodwill is only two doors down from this bar & grill!

Even though all the plaid prints were slightly different, I thought they came together quite nicely. I chose a red dress because there is the slightest bit of red in the pattern of the hat. I can also see, however, a black mini (or midi) for someone who prefers a quieter look. Or exchanging the gray for brown plaid for a warmer palette. Or sub the blazer for a checked coat on a colder day. What do you think? How would y’all make this look your own?

As always, thanks for taking the time to read! You can continue to browse my current fave plaid picks below.
